Who is MuchoHop?
Hello, my name is Ana, I was born in A Coruña, Spain, and I am MuchoHop!
I post travel videos in Spanish and in English on YouTube.
Through the years, and much to my surprise, my Airplane Travel videos have become your favorites. I guess you like how I SHOW you step-by-step how to go through an airport, board an airplane, and finally reach different destinations around the globe.
I’m so happy to be able to share these skills with you in my videos, so you too can travel with confidence and less stress.
My first flight ever, at A Coruña Airport (Spain). It was an international flight, Coruña – Madrid – New York. Did you guys notice my little suitcase? So cute.
How did you end up flying so much?
My first flight was when my family and I moved from A Coruña, Spain, to New York City, where I lived for 26 years!
During my school years, my parents worked, so they would put me on an airplane to A Coruña or Miami to spend 2-month summer vacations with family. I did this every single summer, and many times I would even go solo. I was the typical kid who flew with the stewardess. But after a certain age, I didn’t want the stewardess to go with me. I was offended, as I knew my way around. What a brat, LOL!
Hey, not bad for a Brooklyn kid; looking back, I realize how lucky I was!
So my training as a Hopper started pretty early. I loved it and wasn’t scared at all. And as you can imagine, I used to say that I wanted to be a stewardess when I grew up.
Because my relatives and friends were (and still are) in different countries, I’ve had to travel quite a bit, mostly by airplane.
So, for me travel isn’t a hobby, it’s just part of my life.
Have you ever had a normal job?
Most certainly! Having an education has always been one of my top priorities, so after many years and great sacrifices, I finally got a Master’s degree in Biochemistry and worked in medical research laboratories in New York City for over a decade.
Once I started working, those long summer vacations were over, but I still managed to travel every year, now in the form of extended weekends or short vacations.
At this point in my life, my travels were no longer limited to only visiting family as I was an adult, I had a job, and I wanted to visit places I saw on TV or in books and magazines (there was no Internet back then).
I clearly remember that when I saw this picture of Toledo, in the magazine National Geographic, I knew I had to go there. I was stung by the Travel Bug!!
And that was the beginning of my love for travel and wanting to experience the world.
When I saw this picture of Toledo, in National Geographic, I knew I had to go there. I was stung by the Travel Bug!!
Many years later, I decided to leave the Big Apple and returned to A Coruña. The move was not easy, because NYC was my home but with time I adapted. I began working as an English teacher and eventually started a business as a freelance proofreader of scientific/medical research papers.
Again, I was quite lucky in that I met lots of new people and these new friends loved to travel, too!
In recent years, my fate has taken me to Germany, and I, as always, am thrilled to get to know a new country, culture, and language. Living in Germany makes travel “easy” as we are so centrally located in Europe and there are so many travel opportunities.
What made you start YouTube?
After moving to Germany, one day I got the opportunity to meet a very famous beauty blogger by the name of Julia Graf. She had planned a meetup in Bern, Switzerland, just a hop skip and a jump from my home, LOL.
That day changed my life. If you are interested in knowing what happened READ MORE.
After much pondering and watching loads of YouTube videos, I decided to start a YouTube channel in English and called it MuchoHop. My topic of expertise? Travel, of course.
In view of the positive response of my Hoppers, and the need to also help my Spanish-speaking audience, two years later I launched a second channel, in Spanish, and named it MuchoHop en Español.
So now you know a little more about me and where my drive to travel comes from. As you can see, travel has always played a very important role in my life. I hope my videos will help you in your travels and inspire you.
Thanks for dropping by! Hopper Hugs, Ana
